CONS: I stayed at Westin about 10 years ago and the rooms were modern then. They're a little overused now and the furnishings are run down. Our air conditioner was incredibly loud and was above one of the beds - it worked for the first night then stopped working on the 2nd night. Also, we could clearly hear the people in the room next door while they were talking. Not the hotel it used to be - thank goodness we only paid $120 a night. We'll be staying elsewhere next time we're in TO. Super expensive but ok food in the restaurants. - they'll get you with the overpriced parking and food for the cheaper rooms. PROS: Pool facility is great - there's a play area for toddlers by the poolside and loads of pool toys to be used - its nice that they have a pool porter to assist with towels and cleaning up the place. There's also a tennis court and squash court. We needed a crib for our baby and it was quite decent with a nice mattress. We also forgot our Blackberry chargers and they were able to provide us with one - really great service

If you are looking for a quiet spacious room, a good nights sleep, security, walking proximity to attractions and easy access to the hotel from a freeway,we had all of this at this Westin. We will come back.PROS: The BEST hotel night sleep either of us have ever had (BEST hotel beds by far and we had a quiet corner room). Strong shower, plenty of hot water with double shower heads. Hotel is off the expressway at the waterfront, yet we could walk to everything we wanted to. (NOT in the heart of Toronto, at the South end of Young Street, so check your map should you want to be more centralized.) The hotel exercise room, pool, hot tub, and saunas were great.CONS: The pillows were so-so. (Bring your own and keep them in the car just in case you dont like your hotel pillows.) This hotel is not cheap, so shop around for best internet pricing. Why park valet ($*/night) or at the hotel owned and suggested surface lot ($*/night) when you can park at the Municipal lot located between the hotel and the hotel owned lot? Hotel food is crazy expensive ($*for a cold breakfast buffet, please). For breakfast, try either Eggspectations or The Sunset Grill, both on Young Street (a 10-15 minute walk but much better value). For dinner, try The Overdraught Irish Pub, 156 Front Street West. We ate there two nights in a row, had 4 different entrees (reasonable at $*) and all were authentic and wonderful. You wont be disappointed. For Grocery items, walk to the METRO #62 Supermarket, 80 Front Street East and bring food/dessert back to the room or when its open, the St. Lawrence Market. For Pharmacy items, shop at any Shoppers Drug Mart.

The Westin stay was great. It turned out to be an excellent choice for us. Centrally located to what we wanted to do with easy access to the subway and walking routes. Hotel was clean, but could use some updates in the rooms. What we did not like was the hotel restuarant on the first floor in the lobby area. The breakfastbuffet price went up from one day to the next withing two days and was not posted in the restaurant. The waiter did not tell us prior to our decison whether to go buffet or menu what the price for the buffet. When we questioned the bill, he said he has no control over the price which we realize, but should have informed us of the price prior to ordering. Very poor on the restaurant's part.

Great location, very comfy bed, very good staff for cleaning. Only negative was with the front desk personnel . We were given a key for a "stocked refrigerator" only to find it empty. When asked about it, we were briskly told they do not stock anymore. Our friends who traveled with us found that there empty refrigerator did not work. When asked about it, they were briskly told that they will not fix it because they do not stock them anymore. No big issue, but do not give out the keys if that is the case.

Overall the stay was a good experience. The rooms were clean and well maintained while the staff was very courteous. Throughout my stay there were only three issues: (1) Fire alarm went off at 1am and while we were allowed back into our rooms we were never informed as to the reason why the alarm went off, (2) During the first 5 days of our stay we had great housekeeping service but on the day before we were to leave a different maid came to clean our room as we were leaving and when we returned we found that our bags had been searched and some small souvenirs were missing, and (3) they mistook my niece for an older child because of her height and made me pay the adult rate ($20) for her to eat breakfast
